Inspiration day for caregivers of young refugees

Young people and increasingly young children arrive in Europe unaccompanied by a parent, fleeing war or other difficult circumstances, for which the FORM consortium has engaged in developing a culturally and trauma-sensitive care approach. Discover more about the multiplier event hosted in Ghent in October 2024!

In 2021, Foster Care East Flanders started an Erasmus+ project, namely the FORM project , which is about the development of treatment foster care for our young refugees and their network foster families. Foster Care East Flanders joined forces with five other partners from four countries: Belgium (Odisee University College), Germany (University of Kassel), Italy (Centro Nazionale Opere Salesiane, ENSA European Network for Social Authorities) and Cyprus (Hope for Children Policy Center Nicosia) to gather knowledge and experiences to ensure empowerment and social inclusion of young refugees and their foster families.

During this inspiration day, FORM consortium would like to share the results with you of:

  • a literature study based on scientific research and good practices in foster care for unaccompanied foreign minors.
  • a training model for care providers to provide therapeutic care to unaccompanied minors and their foster families.

Consortium's goal is to inspire you about culturally and trauma-sensitive care for young refugees.
