Young people and increasingly young children arrive in Europe unaccompanied by a parent, fleeing war or other difficult circumstances, for which the FORM consortium has engaged in developing a culturally and trauma-sensitive care approach. In 2021, Foster Care East Flanders started an Erasmus+ project, namely the FORM project , which is about the development of treatment foster care for our young refugees and their network foster families. Foster Care East Flanders joined forces with five other partners from four countries: Belgium (Odisee University College), Germany (University of Kassel), Italy (Centro Nazionale Opere Salesiane, ENSA European Network for Social Authorities) and Cyprus (Hope for Children Policy Center Nicosia) to gather knowledge and experiences to ensure empowerment and social inclusion of young refugees and their foster families.
